Every design begins with a story.
For this one, mine started with a natural sapphire I found in Sri Lanka — a beautiful green-blue shade that reminded me of the ocean. Not the deep navy kind, but something softer — calm, full of hope. That feeling became the heart of this ring design.
From Emotion to Design
As a jewelry designer, I always start with emotions, not just shapes.
For this ring, I followed Unsome’s theme — the ocean, a drifting boat, and waves. They symbolize courage and trust — the courage to move forward, and the trust that even when the path feels uncertain, you’ll find your way.
I gathered pictures based on those ideas, picked a few elements I loved, and began sketching — experimenting with lines, curves, and balance until the feeling of the ocean came alive on paper.
ow the Sketch Took Shape
The first sketch was too bold — too straight, too sharp. So I softened it, made the lines flow like water.
Some versions looked like flowers, others like waves. Eventually, I found a balance that felt alive, organic, and true to the story.
Even the position of the design matters — depending on which hand or finger you wear it on. Small details like this make handmade jewelry truly personal.
The Meaning Behind “Unsome”
Unsome means “not the same.”
It’s about being different, and finding strength in that difference. Sometimes we all feel like we’re drifting — uncertain, small — but courage means moving anyway.
That’s what I want each piece of jewelry to express: trust the waves, and keep going.
From Sketch to Silver
